SFC DESIGNINGreen Leader Randall Whitehead will take you on a roller coaster ride of good and bad lighting. As newer energy efficient sources are coming onto the market, learning what to look for on the label can go a long way in making more informed decisions about the products that are selected. One of the most important terms to become familiar with is color temperature. All light sources emit a color. This coloration affects how we perceive the illumination and also affects the colors of objects in the space.

Join us to learn the basics of good lighting design, called light layering, where different functions of light- task, accent, ambient and decorative are used in combination to create a cohesive and dimensional lit environment. This is not changed with the advent of alternative light sources, but what we choose can make or break the success of the end design.
