Sustainability Essentials Webinar-Fire Safety Without Harm

Learn about from expert Dr. Arlene Blum about how we can be assured of fire safety without exposure to harmful chemicals.  Dr. Blum is a biophysical chemist, visiting scholar at UC Berkeley’s Department of Chemistry and founder of the Green Science Policy Institute.  She will share with us how toxic fire retardant chemicals came to be required in such products as our upholstered furniture, and what alternatives we can choose. 

Experts from the Green Science Policy Institute will be featured at SFC NEXT, our conference June 13-14 in Washington DC to further discuss  the six families or “classes” of chemicals which contain many of the harmful substances found in everyday products. Instead of worrying about tens of thousands of untested chemicals, we will learn about six classes containing many of the bad actor chemicals in consumer products, and about safer alternatives.
