Sustainability Essentials Webinar: Legislation on Sustainable Packaging
Legislation on Sustainable Packaging
November 21, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm EST
Please join us for a conversation with Thomas Oppel, Executive Vice President of the American Sustainable Business Council. We will discuss legislative efforts around sustainable packaging, including the principles ASBC has developed to help them recommend and evaluate potential legislation. Learn about the business effort ASBC helped organize around a California Circular Economy bill and about ASBC’s Sustainable Packaging Working Group. The Working Group helps policymakers, businesses, and other stakeholders identify effective solutions and policy options for addressing the important issue of plastic waste pollution.
Mr. Oppel has more than three decades of experience in management, communications, policy and political campaigns. From 2009 to 2017, he served as Chief of Staff to the 75th Secretary of the United States Navy, Ray Mabus. When President Obama asked Secretary Mabus to develop a long term recovery plan for the Gulf Coast following the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, Mr. Oppel served as chief of staff for that effort as well, with the results of the report culminating in bipartisan passage of the RESTORE Act.
Content also includes a synopsis of GREENleaders, the industry's first certified sustainability training course. This webinar is intended to give participants useful information you can begin using in your business immediately as well as answer any questions you may have about getting the most out of SFC membership.
