Best Practice Achievements
2019: LaDIFF is highly concerned about our global footprint and wherever possible, we recycle or re-use most – if not all – of the cardboard and plastic that is used in packaging and in our daily activities. We have installed a direct-line water cooler in the store that eliminated the need and use of plastic water bottles! We have an internal policy of not purchasing these single-use plastic bottles.
2013: All light fixtures use LED bulbs.
2012: Continue replacing all track heads with fluorescent bulbs. Turning thermostats up in summer, down in winter.
2019: We have participated in the 2019 Wood Furniture Scorecard, and have created a Wood Sourcing Policy for our store and posted it on our website. LaDIFF seeks partnerships and relationships with independent, small family owned businesses in the US, Canada, and Europe who actively control how and where they source their lumber. We ask for wood/materials certifications and inquire about the back-story when no certification is available. We source and use recycled or reclaimed material when appropriate.
2018: Most of the displays in the showroom are made of recycled lumber from the owner's actual home and reclaimed timber from their land.
2012: Expand our recycling in-house. Pursue more vendors who are working toward same goals.
2019: We continue to train our staff and educate our consumers about the wood sources of the furniture we sell.
2018: LaDiff worked with SFC to provide programming for staff and has posted SFC signage in the break room, so employees are constantly reminded of the importance of responsible wood use. There is also signage on the showroom floor, telling customers about specific product lines, including several collections that carry information on where and how the wood was procured.
2012: Working on an in-house display section, explaining what we are doing and what customers can do.
