9 Ten design
I’m Lenora DeMars, Orange County home stylist, and I bring my east coast edge and blend it with west coast casual sensibilities. I adore active, inspired mornings, sunshiny beach afternoons, and mellow evenings with the perfect glass of red wine. Mix it all together and my home interior design style is warm and modern with a bit of edge and a dash of quirkiness. GREEN AP on staff.

Return and Reuse
We use recycled or recyclable packing/packaging materials, offer blanket-wrap transportation arrangements for customers and have a carton return/reuse policy:
Chain of Custody
We ask for verifiable chain of custody documents (i.e. legal logging certifications) before buying products containing wood:
Decrease use of Toxic Chemicals
We have decreased our use/acceptance of known toxic chemicals for treatments, binders and finishes, replacing compounds that compromise indoor air quality and are harmful to human health:
Low Environmental Impact Textiles
We are asking our vendors for textiles that have a lower environmental impact, i.e. organic cotton in place of conventionally-grown cotton, as well as seeking other eco-friendly textiles:

In keeping with our commitment to continual improvement, we are planning to take the following actions this year: On reducing energy consumption:

2019: All the lights in my office and home are now switched to LED bulbs. I recommend and specify energy efficient appliances to my clients. In considering window treatments, we add awnings when appropriate to the outside of the house to keep it cooler in the summer months. We are mindful of the settings on the AC unit to conserve energy.
2017: For my own home based office I have swapped out lighting to LED bulbs, turned all equipment and lights off that are not being used, as well as unplugged all chargers that are not used.

In keeping with our commitment to continual improvement, we are planning to take the following actions this year: On how we will manage our primary material or service to a more sustainable direction:

2019: When designing furniture and choosing materials for clients, I ask "What's it made Of?" I look for fabrics that use less chemicals in production and finishing, and want to choose furniture that is made with certified wood.
2017: My plan is to partner up with local makers who practice this movement, as well as align myself with vendors who manufacturer products in a sustainable manner.

In keeping with our commitment to continual improvement, we are planning to take the following actions this year: On education and promotion of the sustainability cause:

2019: I am a Certified GREEN AP, having completed SFC's GREENleaders course. I am also taking "Wellness Within Your Walls" courses, and am becoming a WWYW trainer to hold courses in my area. I've started an online forum for designers that promotes wellness in design.
2017: Now that I have joined SFC, I plan to attend as many seminars as possible to learn more about how to source responsibly. I will also be taking the GREENleaders course in the near future. I'm excited to learn more and practice this approach in my business.
